Your Opinion Wanted-What should really be done to child molesters?

i have not tried to hide my past as a victim of this, but this is always an area that i have to fight my personally feelings as to what should be done to child molesters.

they ruin lives, scar an individual for a lifetime!.

should they be incarcerated for life, castrated, turned over to the family member(s), public humiliation like a branding everywhere they go, tortured and or death penality?.

What I cannot comprehend----even for that era----is how anyone who had been molested by their step-monster as a child themselves, could possibly think that their own children would be "safe" in the exact same environment. Any man who can rape a child most definitely falls under the category of being "evil" as this is one of the most vile acts a human can commit. Three of my closest friends were all molested by family members when they were kids. When they had children of their own, they were never, ever left alone with these men and were not allowed to visit (who the hell would want to?) with them over the weekend or even a day or half a day. That's what I just don't get----how can you leave your own kids in the care of someone who did something so dispicable to you in your own youth and not think that history was going to repeat itself?

I'm so sorry you have comprehension problems with this Mary. If you'd walked in my shoes, you'd know that I THOUGHT IT WAS MY OWN FAULT THAT CAUSED IT TO HAPPEN TO ME! I HONESTLY DIDN'T THINK THAT MY CHILDREN WOULD BE IN DANGER SINCE MY *SON* WAS WITH MY DAUGHTER AND I THOUGHT THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS SAFE WITH HER BROTHER THERE. I HONESTLY THOUGHT THAT HE WOULDN'T DARE TRY SOMETHING WITH BOTH OF THEM THERE. I ONLY HAD MY OWN EXPERIENCE TO GO BY. IT WASN'T UP FOR DISCUSSION. IT WAS A TABOO SUBJECT. I WAS NOT AS ENLIGHTENED THEN AS I AM NOW. I'VE ALSO ADMITTED TO BEING STUPID AND NAIVE. If that doesn't satisfy you enough and you insist on placing blame on me, perhaps you'd be happier if I just go shoot myself in the head!!!

my wife 'rowan' was born and raised a jw, her father being an elder -a very gentle loving person, but an elder.. some years ago, she was betrayed by a close friend, subjected to a jc and was disfellowshiped & shunned.

the proceeding was completely void of mercy and love, it was much like a violation, a rape.

finding herself df'd was of course terrifying, but the most disapointing outcome was that her father sided with the elders.. eventually she discovered through select books, articles and this board about the fear-driven mind control ways of her religion.

WOW! Yall have been busy! I had to hit da hay last night kinda early for me. I'd been up for 36 hrs and just faded away.

We've now got "flashy", another "sweet-tooth smurf" and "dirty urban" smurf and "paranoid smurf" and naughty smurf!

Looks like just about the whole smurf family is here...heheh

if the purpose of the sun is to provide us light and heat, but we have no purpose, does that negate the suns purpose
and if our purpose is to love and worship GOD, but he has no purpose, does this negate our purpose

The sun provides light and heat to the earth, its flora and fauna, regardless of humans' existance. And how do you know that's the only purpose of the sun? Why limit the sun's purpose to light and heat, only?

Where did you discover that humans' purpose is to love and worship God? Where did you come up with the idea that God exists? That he may or may not have a purpose? Does God have a purpose? IF God has a purpose, do you know what it is? How do you know this?

I still want to know why God is a always a boy. Does "He" have male genitals? If "He" doesn't have male genitals then can we call Him "She" if we feel so inclined? If God is androgynous then can we say "He" or "She" if we are so inclined?

All well and thoughtfully "spoken," Threestars. As for the divine genitalia issue, it probably stems from those who sincerely believe in God having the need for him to be an all-powerful "Father figure," the classic or traditional "provider" in the family arena. And yet.....women are providers, also.
